5 last minute tips for a bikini body that’s ready to hit the beach

For those of you who started their New Year’s resolutions for the perfect bikini body a few months too late

In some parts of the world, the temperatures have been very pleasant indeed for a while already, while other parts are still hoping for their summer to start. And then, of course, there are the parts where it’s winter at the moment – for those people, this article might be a little less relevant right now. But are you one of the people who are about to go on holiday to a tropic location and were you planning on losing another kilo or two but did you forget? No worries; we’ve got a few tips for you that might help you look a little more toned before you head off to the sun.

You’ll need some dedication and perseverance, but these tips can help you reach that desired bikini body.

1. Half an hour every day

Try exercising for half an hour (or half an hour more) every day. It’s only thirty minutes. Freeing thirty minutes in your schedule for exercising each day should be doable, right? You could try fitting it in in the morning before you go to work, or head to the gym right after you leave your job. That way, you’ve gotten it over with either before you start your day or before you head home and wind down.

2. Work on strength and cardio

A combination of strength training and cardio is the best thing for your body. You could do this by warming up on the cross trainer for 15 minutes and then moving on to lifting weights. Don’t have a gym membership? Here’s a routine you can do at home: start with jumping rope, running or jumping jacks and then move on to pushups, squats and crunches.

3. Motivate yourself

People are very visually minded creatures. So, you should hang in front of you what it is that you want to achieve. For example, you could make sure you always see the bikini you want to fit into. Don’t put it away, but keep it out in the open so you can see what you’re working towards. You’ll know what you’re doing it for and that can help you achieve your goal.

4. Get rid of your scales

Your body will change when you start exercising and paying attention to your diet more – this is a fact. One person will lose entire kilos and see this in the number on the scales. However, other people do also lose kilos in fat but gain kilos in muscles. That means that the number on the scales doesn’t always tell you what you need to know. The best thing is to simply look in the mirror to see if you’re getting more toned.

5. Pay attention to your diet

This won’t come as a surprise: if you want to lose weight or become more toned, you’ll have to pay attention to your diet. A few things to keep in mind are:

  • Eat more vegetables and less fruit. It’s better to go for a carrot than an apple.
  • Drink water and (herbal) teas instead of fruit juices, sodas and alcohol. Fruit juices might seem healthy, but they’re very rich in sugars.
  • Limit your carb intake to once a day. So, don’t eat bread during breakfast and lunch and eat pasta at night.
  • Go for healthy snacks. Don’t just eat three ‘big’ meals, but also snack (healthily) in between.
